Joyeux Noel!

Emmanuel

A blade of grass stirs

A lamb rises from the plain

A shepherd looks to the sky

held captive by the night

—a familiar longing for the sun—

but tonight,

among the stars,

one

Falls closer, swells with light

From the vibrating hush,

fears, questions, hopes rush

Can light break the dark?

The lamb cries—

Can stars break prison-bars?

The song consumes the skies—

Can a kiss break stony hearts?

The shepherd opens his eyes!

The weary earth

shouts, shakes in rebirth

We are naked now again,

newborn with first breath

unshackled from

death

We are no more alone

Our ransom has come

The dark is undone

He is with us!

Sing!

He is the one!

Merry blessed Christmas. May the light shine into your life!
