Black and white beach break

Now, I may live to regret these words here in Louisiana where spring is more like one glorious day than a true season, and then melts instantly into a furnace of warm pudding air. But I'm also growing weary of wrapping myself in layers and not wearing sandals. So today I'm choosing hope and optimism: Who's ready for a spring break, sandy toes, sunshine pouring over your bare shoulders, and salty hair?
I'm always a fan of minimalist packing for the simplicity and style it offers. Investing a little time and energy on style pays off in freedom: you can stop thinking about yourself and your appearance, and more fully enter the present moment. Black and white offer the ultimate in ease, versatility, and timelessness. All you need to add is a clean, skin-nourishing sunscreen.
Perfect swimsuit: I got this swimsuit last summer for our annual Dauphin Island family trip. It. is. amazing! So flattering, secure, well-made, modest without being frumpy, and a rare white swimsuit that is properly opaque. I felt great wearing it all week on the beach, climbing rocks, biking, fishing, and hanging around the pool. (I even went back and ordered a black one, too!)
Black linen maxi dress: Nothing beats a airy linen dress with sandals. Zoom in to see the pretty button and seaming details.
Crochet set: I have a dress version of this set and have been really happy with the quality and fit. This cardigan and shorts set looks perfect for après swim or sunset beach strolls.
My beloved Saltwaters: I always pack these, wherever I'm going. Saltwaters are from an era when things were made to last, hand-stitched of leather, rubber, and brass. They won't take any space in packing. Bonus: they mold to your feet with use and they're waterproof (these are my usual beach and pool sandals).
Straw clutch: A lightweight envelope for your phone, keys, sunglasses, and lip balm—what else do you need on spring break?
Polarized sunglasses: I lost my favorite Sunskis (grieve with me, please), so I decided to give these a try before reordering. They're wonderful! I can't get over the high quality for $15. They came with a soft case and a cleaning cloth. This shape is universally flattering and perfectly oversized without being absurd. Also in black, if that's your style.
Crochet cover up: Surprisingly flattering, chic, and well-made; also in a few other neutrals and some colors
Knot back tank: A twist-knot back makes this breezy white tank a little more interesting.
Favorite shorts: These are my platonic ideal of shorts—light as air, a genius longer back to keep you covered, a comfortable liner for security and convenience, zipper pocket, high and wide stretchy waist... I could go on. These are great shorts to get you through workouts and hot days, but I'm sharing here because they also make a good beach short. I have these in four colors; there are almost 50 available. Enjoy the hilarious model photos (I do not remotely believe this person is heading to the gym, beach, or to do anything active).
Woven slides: The ideal spring shoe in a perfect neutral.
White eyelet dress: I've worn this dress on repeat through multiple seasons—it's flowy and ventilated, has pockets, and feels feminine and special.
P.S. If you're looking for an excellent mineral foundation with clean ingredients, I use this every day and especially love it warm weather. I also love and use this clean, tinted lip balm for subtle color.
